Frequently asked questions: |
What does the Lawrence Home Nursing Team (LHNT) do?
The LHNT provides skilled care for terminally ill patients living in Chipping Norton and the surrounding area who wish to remain at home. The LHNT works in partnership with GPs, District Nurses and other agencies to provide a package of care to meet the needs of each patient.
|
What care does the LHNT provide?
Care is provided by a team of experienced nurses who have been chosen for their special aptitude and skill in this type of care and who are required to participate in on-going training. The GP or Community Nurse will request the LHNT to assist in a patient's care. LHNT's Nursing Co-ordinator will visit patients at their home and discuss their individual care with them, their family and the Community Nurse.
|
What area does the LHNT cover?
LHNT operates in Chipping Norton and its surrounding villages as indicated on the map opposite. If you are unsure if you are in the LHNT area please contact us for advise, or ask your GP or Community Nurse who will be able to advise you. |
 |
Who runs the LHNT?
The LHNT has a board of Trustees who are responsible for its management; the Chairman is Dr. Jonathan Moore. Jenny Nolan is the Nursing Co-ordinator. She is responsible for all aspects of patient's care, from the day they are referred to the LHNT. She is also responsible for co-ordinating nursing care, liaising with GPs and community nurses and arranging on-going training in palliative care for all the nurses who work for LHNT.
|
Who works for the LHNT?
Most administrative work is carried out free of charge by volunteers in order to ensure that funds raised are spent on patient care - not paperwork. The only paid employees of the LHNT are Jenny Nolan, Nursing Co-ordinator, and her team of fully qualified and experienced registered nurses.
|
Is the service free?
Yes. There is no charge to any patient or family for the care that the LHNT provide.
|
How is the LHNT funded?
This valuable local service is funded entirely through donations and fund-raising events and activities. The people of Chipping Norton and its surrounding villages have been unbelievably generous in their support of the LHNT since its establishment in 1999. Funds come from gifts, legacies, sponsorship, fund-raising activities, personal donations and those from trusts and businesses.
