Lawrence Home Nursing Team News:
Barn Dance - Summer 2011
The Barn Dance held in aid of LHNT raised over £3,500. It went very well and everyone had a good time. Thanks to everyone who helped with the organisation, donated raffle prizes and came along on the night. Below are a few photographs from the evening - one is of a beautiful quilt made by Nancy Lee and donated to LHNT and which was one of the raffle prizes.

Walking the Cotswold Way
Dr Nina Brown of Wychwood Surgery, and friends, walked the Cotswold Way (102 miles) over the Royal Wedding Bank Holiday weekend to raise money for LHNT.
Congratulations and thank you from LHNT.
London Marathon
Gemma Busby ran the London Marathon (on 17th April 2011) - in aid of the Lawrence Home Nursing Team.
Gemma completed the marathon in 4 hours 12 minutes. Well done Gemma.
"Lawrence Home Nursing has kindly invited me to write a short piece on my experience of completing the London Marathon earlier this year.
I’d firstly like to thank everyone so very much for all of their support and donations. We managed to raise well over £2,000 and this was all thanks to the generosity of all of my family, friends and acquaintances.
The London Marathon itself was extremely tough, but immensely rewarding. The crowd cheering everyone on was really quite something and it was an incredibly emotional day. The only thing that I would have changed about the day was the weather – although fantastic for the spectators – it was unbearably hot at times for the runners.
I was mesmerized by the costumes that people were wearing. I thought that it was difficult enough just to run a Marathon, but I was in awe of people wearing banana suits, super-hero costumes and a variety of other wonderful outfits, and also amazed by a team completing the Marathon tied together as a human centipede.
All in all it was a fantastic day and one that I will never forget – a challenge that I would recommend to anyone.
The reason why I chose to run for Lawrence Home Nursing was due to the kind dedication and support of the nursing team during the final few weeks of my brother David’s life. They made, what can only be described as the worst time of my family’s life, a lot easier. Jane Phillips in particular became almost a part of our family during the last few weeks and would insist on coming to call-outs for David, even if she was not working that day/evening.
So – this was my thank you to them, which I feel is a small gesture in comparison to what they did for us and what they do for many others like us."
