Stand Out Stand-up Comedy for Lawrence Home Nursing Team
Lawrence Home Nursing Team has organised an evening of stand-out stand-up comedy to put the fun into this fundraising event. The Memorial Hall in Charlbury will host four professional stand-up comedians for an evening of mirth and merriment. The evening will be MC’d by LHNT Ambassador, Ken Norman of Flock Comedy.
The headline act is “Master of One-Liners”, Mark Simmons who won a place in Dave’s prestigious Best Joke of The Edinburgh Fringe in 2017. His solo show at the festival, One-Linerer was a huge sell-out hit and was nominated “Best Show” by the Amused Moose Comedy Award Fringe Show. His follow-up show, One-Linererer, was also a sell-out!
Mark is constantly on the rise since being a finalist in several competitions, such as Leicester Mercury Comedian of The Year, So You Think You’re Funny and the NATY Award. He has recently supported Seann Walsh, Rob Beckett and Rob Brydon on their national tours, and one-off shows for Michael McIntyre and Jack Dee.
“Simmons delivered a lot of excellent funny one-liners … I loved his subtle, well-paced delivery…hilarious.” Bruce Dessau, Beyond The Joke

Mark will be supported by Tom Glover, Aaron Simmonds and President Obonjo.
Tom Glover has been performing on the UK comedy circuit since 2010. Following in the footsteps of the West Country’s finest comedy talent, Tom has been growing in the dark depths of the South West where he is a regular MC and headliner for those rooms no-one else can afford to drive to. Gigging to everyone from students to the ladies of the WI this plucky twenty-something-year-old has developed a knack of winning over any crowd with his tales of life on the outside and his observations on the minutiae of the everyday. And if that’s not your thing he also does funny accents and pulls silly faces.
Aaron Simmonds has been failing to stand up for 29 years, luckily he is far better at comedy than standing up. “A comedian going places… Places that are wheelchair accessible”
He has a unique perspective on life, usually of people's belly buttons, which gives him stories to tell and a sore neck. Aaron was a finalist at the BBC New Comedian of the Year and won Jewish Comedian of the Year 2017 (Both of which took place at venues that were fully wheelchair accessible.)
“His routine unfolded with great, measured skill. A class act." Chortle
President Obonjo, is the larger-than-life, uber-confident, self-appointed, side-splitting dictator of 'Lafta Republic', President Obonjo who is leading a comedy revolution to become the first President to take over the comedy industry by storm. His latest show the “Rise of the Comedy Dictator” was performed at Edinburgh Fringe Comedy Festival in 2017 and at Leicester Comedy Festival in 2018.
“It’s a great comic construct, with lots of seized opportunities for playing with the clichés” Steve Bennett, Chortle
“… a revelation... Not at all what I was expecting.” John Fleming
