ABOUT LAWRENCE HOME NURSING TEAM

OUR HISTORY

The Lawrence Home Nursing Team was established in May 1999, in memory of Dr. Martin Lawrence, a Chipping Norton GP for 25 years. He was diagnosed with a terminal illness, and in the last few weeks of his life benefited from extensive nursing care and medical support at the place he felt most comfortable: his home. It was his wish that other patients choosing to remain at home would be able to have the benefit of this type of practical and emotional support to complement existing services.

Honouring Dr. Lawrence’s wish, an open meeting was held in May 1999 with a view to setting up a home nursing service for terminally ill people and their families. From that initial meeting, the Team has grown in expertise, passion and numbers: with its 15th birthday celebration held in May 2014.

The Lawrence Home Nursing Team has provided specialist end of life care for over 1,060 patients since its inception in 1999, enabling many of them to die at home with care, reassurance and self respect.

We look forward to helping the terminally ill for many years to come.
