A summer’s Evening of Opera in aid of Lawrence Home Nursing Team
Richard Dowling
Tenor
Graduate of the Royal Academy of Music’s Opera Course and supported by Opera Prelude. He performed for ETO’s Covid-19 affected seasons and their online broad-casts during lockdown.
Previous appearances include Così fan tutte, ‘St John’ and ‘St Matthew’ Passions and a triple bill including a mixture of Purcell, Carissimi and Gesualdo. He also appeared in Tokyo with Diva Opera’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail.
Martha Jones
Mezzo
Martha studied at Durham University, and with Janis Kelly at the Royal College of Music
International Opera School. She is a Britten-Pears Young Artist and Samling Scholar and has given recitals at St John’s Smith Square, the National Portrait Gallery and for the Ryedale Festival with Christopher Glynn.
Milly Forrest
Soprano
Studied at the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music. Awarded the Ferrier Loveday song prize in the 2020 Kathleen Ferrier singing competition and the singer’s prize in the Royal Over Seas League annual music competition in 2021.E
ngagements include: Iris, Semele (Shanghai Symphony Orchestra); Alice, Le Comte Ory (Garsington Opera); cover Barbarina, Le nozze di Figaro (ENO) and Miranda, The Enchanted Island (BYO). She has worked with the LPO at London’s RFH and with the Jette Parker Young Artists at the ROH.
Milly is a Samling Young Artist, a Britten Pears Young Artist and an Opera Prelude Young Artist.
Timothy Nelson
Baritone
Studied at the Royal College of Music International Opera School. Awarded the McCulloch Prize for Opera. A Jerwood Young Artist at Glyndebourne Festival; winner of Bruce Millar Gulliver Prize, RCM Joan Chissell Schumann Competition, the Gerald Moore Award Singers Prize; and a recipient of an Independent Opera at Sadler’s Wells Postgraduate Voice Fellowship.
Engagements include: Opera North; ROH/Aldeburgh; The Grange Festival; English Touring Opera; Diva Opera and multiple roles at the London Handel Festival. His other roles include Count and Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro), Papageno (Die Zauberflöte), Ramiro (L’Heure espagnole), Dandini (La Cenerentola), Ping (Turandot) and Demetrius (A Midsummer Night’s Dream).
